ARLINGTON, Va. -- Former Atlanta Braves outfielder Hector Olivera has been convicted of a misdemeanor assault charge stemming from an incident outside a Virginia hotel.According to court records, Olivera was convicted Thursday in District Court in Arlington, Virginia, and sentenced to 10 days in jail.Arlington Police were called on April 13 to the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Pentagon City, where a woman with visible bruises reported that Olivera had assaulted her. Police said Olivera and the woman are acquainted. Olivera was playing for the Atlanta Braves.Major League Baseball put Olivera on an 82-game suspension under the sports domestic violence policy.On Aug. 2, Atlanta traded Olivera to the San Diego Padres.
