For the first time in a long time there is something worth watching on FOX’s Sunday night “Animation Domination.” Served up hot and fresh on a steaming platter is the new animated hit, Bob’s Burgers. The show is centered around Bob Belcher, his wife Linda, and their quirky kids working in the family restaurant.
Like the other shows on FOX’s Sunday schedule, Bob’s Burgers is definitely not appropriate for young children, but it is the closest thing to family-friendly laughs in the middle of burnt-out spinoffs and The Simpsons. In the second episode, Bob’s mother-in-law remarks, “Guess what? Having a family makes you go nuts…” This show makes me feel good that my family isn’t alone in the great peanut can of life.
On the way back to the restaurant, the children stop to ridicule some paintings on display in front of one of the local art shops. The owner, a crabby old man, comes outside and tells them to leave in a very rude manner. Bob almost gets in a fight with him, but his kids convince him to return to the restaurant.
In an effort to earn some money, Louise recruits Tina and Gene to make some of their own paintings in front of the restaurant. She will serve as manager and sell their work to Art Crawl enthusiasts. Back inside the restaurant, Bob realizes that the anus paintings are causing his customers to lose their appetites. He decides to take down Gale’s paintings and hang up Tina and Gene’s in their stead, assuming that Linda will be so thrilled to see her own children’s work on the walls that she won’t notice what he’s done. Bob is correct about Linda, but Gale notices what he did right away. Bob is about to level with Gale about her paintings when the art store owner Bob encountered earlier in the day walks in with his wife, Edith, who co-owns the store.
The art store owners station themselves outside Bob’s restaurant to alert passersby that the anus paintings are not approved by the Art Crawl Association. Bob angrily tells the old couple that the paintings are a permanent installation. In return, Edith warns Bob that he will regret that decision. The next morning, Bob enters the restaurant to find that pink underwear has been painted over all of the animal anuses. He immediately suspects Edith. Bob confronts Edith at her store and asks her for an apology. She claims to know nothing of the vandalism that took place at Bob’s restaurant. Bob does not believe her, and in a rage, he makes paint splotches on all of the paintings on display in the Bob returns to the restaurant, he is arrested for vandalism. Bob threatens to press charges against Edith as well, for what she did to Gale’s paintings, but Edith once again denies her involvement.
